Other regulatory control

The regulatory control of radiation also includes control of various devices which produce non-ionising radiation (radars, lasers, solariums, and so forth).

In some cases, natural sources of radiation cause such high levels of radiation exposure that they must be restricted. Subjects of regulatory control are: radon in the workplace, construction material, and tap water produced by water companies.

STUK maintains standards for dose quantities to ensure that radiation measurements are accurate and stand up to international comparison.
