Security Technology

The laboratory studies and develops measurement techniques, analysis methods and data management tools for safety and security.

Measurement methods focus on:

  • Nuclear physics
  • Detection systems
  • Data acquisition
  • Position sensitive detectors

The laboratory’s main topics of interest are alpha spectrometry, gamma spectrometry and X-ray spectrometry.

The development of data management consists of databases, GIS (maps) and modern communication systems.

The in-field measurements are the application areas of the research and technical development. Targets of the applications are security arrangements in major public events, mobile measurements in threat or accident situations, nation-wide radiation monitoring, safeguards and verification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
